New 111th Congress begins


The 111th Congress will convene on January 6.  The new Administration will begin two weeks later on January 20.   The Obama Administration's priorities are:  the economy; health care; education and "green jobs".  There will be an increased focus on these topics during the next several months.

PL 110-275 - Medicare Legislation


PL 110-275   On July 15, President Bush vetoed HR-6331 (Medicare legislation).  Also on July 15, both the House of Representatives and the Senate voted to override this veto.  Thus HR-6331 was enacted as PL 110-275.   This legislation includes several aspects which are noteworthy.  It retroactively canceled the 10.6% cut in provider reimbursement rates that went into effect on July 1.  This is very important because there was a genuine risk that physicians would stop seeing Medicare...
