Dr. Coakley received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Social Work, with an emphasis in Children, Youth and Families from the California State University, Long Beach. She received a second Master's Degree in Psychology, as well as her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, from the California School of Professional Psychology in 2005. Dr. Coakley has completed internships in non-profit community care clinics, middle schools, colleges and has provided psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of outpatient settings. She has experience in psychological assessments, program development, treatment planning, crisis intervention, triage, individual, small group and multi-family group therapy.
Dr. Coakley has worked in the emergency department, inpatient hospital, outpatient, and day-treatment settings serving adults with a variety of psychological disorders, grief/ loss issues, phase of life problems, chemical dependency diagnoses and pain disorders. She has developed several programs, including Relapse Prevention programs, Dual Diagnosis programs and programs developed for the Triply Diagnosed patient, which are designed specifically for the patient who struggles with chronic pain, addiction, as well as psychiatric illness. Dr. Coakley specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy and has been employed with Kaiser Permanente since 2001.
